Hi there, and thanks for coming by my review of the CenterPoint Sniper 370 Crossbow. Built by Crosman (yes, the BB gun folks), I was skeptical of how well this x-bow would stack up against the competition, but I always review products with an open mind. Let’s see if Crosman knows crossbows as well as they do BB guns.

What Do I Get With the CenterPoint Sniper 370?

Obviously, you’ll need to know what you get for your hard-earned money. In the box from CenterPoint, you can expect to find these items:

In short, you’ll receive everything you’d expect to find with a crossbow, plus an extra accessory or two. Once you unpackage your new weapon, it’s time to put it together.

Note: the Sniper 370 was ranked as one of our top 4 best crossbows for the money. We recently had to remove them from our list because the availability of this crossbow has become limited. However, we still highly recommend the Sniper 370 – excellent value for the money.

How Difficult Is This Crossbow to Assemble?

The first thing you should know about this model is that the instruction manual is very vague. With that said, if you’ve ever assembled a crossbow before, you shouldn’t have any problems. If you’re an absolutely newbie to the weapon, though, I’d recommend having your local bow tech set it up for you.

Is the Sniper 370 Powerful and Accurate?

CenterPoint Sniper 370 Crossbow ReviewOnce you’ve got your scope sighted in, you’ll be ready to find out what kind of tack driver this crossbow really is. And I do mean tack driver; I was easily able to maintain 1-inch patterns from 30 yards, and 1.5-inch patterns at 40 yards. This is a mean, lean, arrow-flinging machine.

But what about power? How does 370 FPS firing velocity sound? That’s with my 423-grain arrows, meaning this baby deals out 128 ft-lbs of kinetic energy. That’s almost twice the KE recommended for tackling the toughest game, like Cape buffalo and grizzly bears. Yes, it’s that powerful.

Use our arrow ballistics calculator for more valuable information.

Ballistic Data For The CenterPoint Sniper 370

Your actual results will vary slightly depending on weather, and significantly with arrow weight change. See our Crossbow Ballistics Guides section for a complete understanding of how we conducted our tests and why this data matters.

How Suitable Is This Crossbow for Hunting?

This isn’t the smallest or lightest crossbow on the market, but it’s still compact enough to be suitable for hauling cross-country to your favorite hunting blind or tree stand. Uncocked, the x-bow is 21.5 inches wide, and just 18 inches after you cock it. It weighs in at 7.9 pounds, so it won’t cause too much back strain or fatigue. I particularly like the fact that it comes with a shoulder sling, so you don’t have to buy that separately. Just my opinion here, but all crossbows should come with a sling.

That all probably sounds well and good, but I’m sure you want to know about real-life experience with the Sniper 370. Well, let me tell you, I’ve used this puppy for everything from 12-point bucks to Cape buffalo, and plenty of other game in between. It’s never let me down, and the accuracy makes hitting those vital organs a breeze.

How Difficult Is the Sniper 370 to Cock?

With a draw weight of 185 pounds, this could easily be a back-breaker to cock. However, the included rope cocking device makes it much easier and safer to draw. The string pulls back as smooth as butter, with almost no stacking.

Will I Enjoy the Included Scope?

CenterPoint bundles this model with a multi-reticle scope. It’s not a top-of-the-line scope, but neither is it a throwaway piece of junk

The scope sights in easily, and holds zero practically forever. Most of the time, I end up replacing included scopes with something better, but I never got around to doing that with the Sniper 370 because frankly, I didn’t need to.

What Kind of Bolts Should I Buy?

You’ll get a three-pack of 20-inch bolts with the crossbow, and they’re pretty nice carbon ones. They hold up quite well to both target shooting and hunting, but you can always find better crossbow arrows than what come with your purchase. For one thing, you’ll find that the included arrows are 275-grain bolts with 100-grain field tips. If your broadheads are only 100-grain, you won’t get the full potential out of the crossbow. For more details, be sure to check out our guides on arrow selection and choosing the right broadheads for your hunt.

How Safe and Well-Designed Is the CenterPoint Sniper 370

Safety is key with crossbows, and CenterPoint recognizes this. The Sniper 370 has an anti-dry fire mechanism that works flawlessly, as well as an automatic safety. You do have to remember the proper cocking procedure, though – turn the safety off and then engage the cocking lever before you try pulling the string back.

The rail is CNC-machined aluminum, and the riser is a shoot-through variant. To keep noise and vibration down, you’ll find integrated string suppressors. The quad limbs are matched with precision CNC-machined cams for a smooth, even draw without even a hint of stacking. The stock is composite, and the limbs are compressed fiberglass.

What Kind of Warranty Backs This X-Bow?

CenterPoint backs the Sniper 370 with a five-year warranty for the original owner only. The customer service staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, making sure you can get the most out of your new hunting tool.

CenterPoint Sniper 370 Crossbow Review – Summary

Thanks for reading my review of CenterPoint’s Sniper 370 crossbow. This is a well-designed hunting weapon that is fully capable of taking down even the largest of legal game. It suffers from some amount of front-heaviness, but that’s true with most crossbows.

  1. Centerpoint sniper 370. I’m shooting a 20 inch victory the decimator bolt with #1 nocturnal moon nock and a 2+ crossbow rage. I am chronographing at 344. I don’t believe it can reach the 370 as specs say. At 20 yards I am 1.5 inch high and the rest will fall within a 6 inch circle easily to 60 yards. I removed my forearm and added a pistol forward adjustable grip. I am pleased with this outfit. The trigger could be a little more crisp but for hunting and squeezing the trigger, it will be just fine for shot placement

      1. Bought this bow on sale for 199 got some cheap carbon bolts at Walmart and this bow impressed me all my shots are dead center swear if I had wooden arrows they would split like Robbin hood …..the scope is cheap and somewhat difficult to get set but once it’s on its very good it’s my third crossbow and definitely the best one I have owned this far

    1. what kind of forward pistol grip did you add? How well does it work for you, so how natural does it feel with the crossbow? Was the switch easy? Thanks for your time.

    2. Just bought a sniper 370.very happy with it.have bought one for father for xmas
Were did you get the pistol forward adjustable grip.very interested
      Thanks

  2. I am a newbie. But here’s MY story. I got the bow delivered in the late afternoon. Hubby and I assembled in about 20 min and sighted in another 10. Off to the stand I got. After about an hour, bam…my first deer dropped and only ran about 75 yards. I was about 15 yards up and it shot clean through the heart into the ground. VERY happy with my crossbow purchase!

  3. I bought my sniper 370, while sighting in the 20 yard dot was right on, 30 was right on,then the 3rd dot said it was 35yards in the manual, the 4th dot was not even marked in the manual? They said the40 yard was at the bottom of the crosshairs. I don’t understand why the 4th dot is not 40yards?

    1. Hello Mike,

Apologies for the mistake, the scope was not factory-included, but only in our particular package. We have corrected the mistake.

  4. I have yet to buy a crossbow. Was going to hold out for a 10-point. But this bow seems like it might be the one I’m looking for. Would a 10-point really be that much better.

    1. Hello!!
My first crossbow was a Center Point Hex.
I had that crossbow for six years and only thing I have replaced on this bow was strings and cables.
I also was looking at the wicked ridge
Made by tenpoint but was so pleased with the first bow and never had any problems with it that I decided to buy this one.
And what isn’t to like with 185 draw weight 370fps and a CNC rail, plus all the extras I couldn’t pass it up. The only thing I will change is the scope. Good luck in your decision hopefully what I said kinda helps you decide. Happy hunting!!

    2. The Sniper is possibly the best VALUE xbow offered by any manufacturer in 2016/2017. The arrows are not great but the value point for the performance and quality of this xbow is unbeatable. You have to go to xbows in the $700 – $1000 price point to find a better xbow.

    3. I was a newbie to crossbows I never held one, never really looked at one. But I bought this because I heard it was good bang for your buck. IT IS!! The instructions are awful to read and follow. But once you assemble it and fire it for the first time WOW!! I was impressed!! Accurate quiet hits so hard it’s intimidating. If you do decide to get this get a good block because the tip of your arrows will exit the other side of a cheap block my arrows went A full 18 inches into the block and went 2 inches out the other side. My only complaint is the AR 15 stock does have a slight jiggle to it. This does not affect the accuracy though I was heading to winch targets at 25 yards never fire in a crossbow in my life after just a few bolts going through this beautiful piece of equipment.

  5. This review helped me decide to purchase the Sniper, and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made! It took me 4 shots to site it in — 2 to site dead-on at 20 yards, the 3rd hit dead-on at 30 yards, and the 4th hit dead-on at 40 yards. My 5th shot hit “dead-on” an 8-pointer at 28 yards. I’m anxious to see how it shoots at 50 and 60 yards, but will be patient to see how my 6th shot might turn out, before the archery season ends in a couple of weeks (smile). This bow and all the accessories are amazing (great scope). I used the bolts that came in the package to take the 8-pointer using a 100 grain NAP SlingBlade broadhead–very pleased with the blood trail that resulted! I’m using that same bolt with a NAP Spitfire broadhead to take my 6th shot!

  6. Are most hunters shooting 100 or 125 grain broadheads?
Also, I am having a terrible time finding a target that will stop bolts with broadheads without damaging the vanes. Any suggestions?

    1. The Merrell Super Duper, 32×32″ does a great job for me shooting 450 grain 20″ bolts from my CenterPoint Sniper 370. Bolt penetrate target and leaves 5-6″ before the fletching, and the bolt removes easily.

    2. Get a gunny sack and really stuff it with shrink wrap,it’s cheap and about the same size of a deers body.
I used this target using my compound bow 70lb but had to stuff more wrap in the bag using my center fire. Works great!
Had to go to a crossbow after tearing my shoulder and bicep up.
Good luck. I’ve had the x bow just a short time but got a 9lb4oz goose this last 2016 season.

  7. I’ve been thinking about getting my first crossbow as I’m turning 67 shortly and I think I can extend my time in the woods with one. I’ve read this review at least three times and I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy this crossbow. Thanks for being so thorough with this review.

    1. Hi Thomas Henry. I just turned 67 this past March. Bought this crossbow two years ago but the all black version. I looked at crossbows for two years and when l saw this I knew this was what I was looking for. Didn’t want too many frills and the shoulder stock got my vote. It’s a quality bow.
However mine was not by crossman. Avalanche Hell Hawk Compound Crossbow

  8. Just received and assembled this Sniper xbow. I have never owned or shot one before, I got it for my better half, she will use it this hunting season. I agree the instructions are vague, it is not difficult to assemble but I can see how people would not do it correctly and damage the xbow (or themselves). The better half cannot cock it herself, I do not have an issue cocking it, I will be with her anyway but consider this if bought for a woman or if you are not physically fit 🙂 .
It took about 3 shots to sight it in at 20 yards, it is as accurate as the shooter can hold and aim. I did not chronograph it but the speed is impressive visually, much faster than my compound bow. I see nothing wrong with the scope, I like it actually. I agree this xbow is front heavy but I held others and they were also. Overall I would say this is a great deal for the money, much better than the cost of a new compound bow (ridiculous!!!).
The better half shot it 5 times, bulls-eye at 20 yards every time !!!

  9. i own a centerpoint 370.. and it’s hard for me to believe that you are shooting a bolt 423gr and at a speed of 370.. I shooting a stock bolt less than 400 gr and only shooting 372.. when I go up to a 415 g bolt I’m only shooting 355…

    1. When you are cocking, you need to make sure the hook on your left string doesn’t hit the antidry fire switch. It’s a common occurance to hit it and not securely lock the string.

  10. I am having a hard time sighting my center point 370 in. I have a truglo 30mm 3- dot scope due to Idaho not allowing magnified scopes. I am wondering what arrow weights and what broad head weights folks are using? Any info will help. Thank you.

  11. My boyfriend just bought this bow for me and I’m super excited because I can cock it myself, it’s lighter than the one I was using, has a shoulder strap and is as accurate as the other bow and we haven’t even sighted it in yet. I can hardly wait to get back out in the forest with this bad boy!!!

  12. Just bought one full black and i was wondering do you know in what tempeture range i can use it.
Ex:winter-40°c summer+40/cross river with the crossbow submerge

  13. Total newbie to crossbows. Been gun hunting a while and wanted to get into bow season. I just bought and assembled the Centerpoint 370. I live and hunt in Virginia.

Could someone please let me know the best grain for the bolts and the best grain for the broadheads that I should shoot out of the Sniper 370.

I’m finding recommendations all over the web but figure this is the best place to get an all inclusive answer.

    Thanks a lot!!

  14. About three weeks ago, I place a order for a New Center Point Sniper Crossbow. When I got it. The first thing I noticed was the scope that came with the order. First It was not the Illuminated one like the order stated. I contacted the company and was told that the Illuminated scope was only part of the deal to show off the bow. After the time period ran out, They put the cheaper scope on. They said it was just like the Illuminated one. But if I wanted to send back my scope along with a check for $27.50 I could get the one I wanted in the first place. I have used the Crossbow and it great. and the price is outstanding for what you get. My only problem was with the cheap scope that I got. I hope other people don’t have the problem I had.

  15. I just got my 370 sniper. When I grab the receiver by the pistol grip, and I just rotate my forearm, inside the receiver there is a loud this, like something is clanging back and forth. It’s not the stock. That makes a soft sound on its own that I’m not worried about. Please help

  16. Hubby just bought me my first x-bow. Problem is I’m not strong enough to cock it. We have adjusted the rope to give me more leverage but I’m still about 2- 3 inches from getting it cocked. Was told there is a cocking reel but which one fits on the center point sniper elite?

    1. I just got a cranking cocker and it fits just fine on my 370 sniper. It was made for the pse. Crossbow. $79.00.it fits on back of stock.

  17. Great review ! This is deer season 3 for my Sniper. For those who have had problems, contact crossman customer support, they are great to deal with. There is a recall on the original cocking rope, due to it hitting the safety. Those who are considering buying a Sniper go for it, you will not be unhappy with your purchase. I have done several upgrades on mine. Nikon bolt xbow scope, Bloodline arrows and some quad limb noise dampeners. I also replaced the string, my fault that it had to be replaced. Sorry forgot what new string we put on it, but it did up the FPS a few. I also added an aftermarket stock with adjustable cheek rest, this was not needed, just something I wanted. I have not been able to find a crank style cocking device that will work, due to the AR style stock. I use a 100gr tip and consistently shoot an average of 358 FPS. With the Nikon scope, crosshair is sighted for 0-25 yards with only a .5″ variance, next bdc circle is dead on at 35 yards, next 45 yards, 55, 65 etc… all dead on. I do not dare shoot at the same dot on target, due to chance of robin hooding arrows. I can achieve a consistent 1.5″ group out to 65 yards. I have harvested deer, pigs, bears and numerous coyotes with very little blood trailing required. My suggestion to anyone buying this excellent value for the monies xbow, is to for sure junk the included arrows, change the scope if you can afford too and get a good target, like the morrel, that is made for xbows. The advertised 370FPS like most advertised FPS on bows was achieved using arrows that are so light they are almost a dry fire. Even if your only getting 340 or so FPS with your hunting set-up, thats still very fast. Also heavier the arrow, more KE and it makes the xbow even quieter. Have fun and good luck this season.

  18. Hi I have a sniper 370.Well tonight i got it out oiled it all up checked all the bolts to get ready for this year’s deer season, when i went to sight it in which i do in my back yard got it clocked back getting ready to shoot the bow went off before i pulled the trigger.so at first i thought i had done it,clocked it back again and before i even put a bolt in it it went off again.and this time it broke my pulleys,i was wondering what kind of warranty you have for this please I cannot afford to buy another one.please help me.

  19. Red the manual….. dry-fire and safe have to be on……

The only thing I changed is 3 small strips of 0.5 mm teflon in the rear stock. Absolute silent now.

  20. i agree with charles,i have a 370 and the bolts that came with the xbow weigh about 365 grains and i get 385 and i don’t know how you would get 370 with 423 grain bolts but the bow is fast.but the trigger sucks it has easily over an inch of creep, your pulling it forever till it lets go,no mention of that

  21. I’ve owned a sniper for three years now having torn my biceps and rotatercup so I could not pull back my compound bow anymore. I have changed a few things I did some work on the Triger so the pull is not so long but retained the Safty factors it has and replaced the hand guard with an ajustable one.Ive gotten two deer with it but most of my time with it has been goose hunting with it and is a blast! Good goose jerky. I dint do so well this year deer hunting my appendix went out on me while in my deer stand so that ended my season almost died, not a good thing to go through, thank goodness my brother-in-law was there to get me to a hospital! Looking forwards to this year coming up 2019.

  22. While I didn’t order my CenterPoint Sniper 370 Camo from Amazon, I did order it from Walmart.com. After a few shipping problems and a few “e-gift cards” issued to me from Walmart because of the mess up in shipping I received my Crossbow. I opened the box and yet again another foul up. I did NOT receive the Camo Sniper 370, I did receive the ALL BLACK Sniper 370. So once again I got on the phone with Walmart’s Customer Service. After telling them this and asking them if their employees are color blind, they once again adjusted the final cost. My order was for their Camo combo kit which included the Binoculars at just over $230+ dollars online that included 3 bolts. I received the Black one with 4 crossbow bolts for just under $175.00 dollars. Online Walmart’s Black Combo kit sells for $263.00. So I did get a good deal on this. BUT, No I’m not happy with the foul ups and with the fact I received the all black one, but I decided to keep it. This Crossbow is Lightening fast with a ton of power. The Scope is not all that and will be replaced. Crosman who makes this Crossbow claims it comes with a lighted ( Red & Green ) scope but it does not. It comes with a standard 4×32 scope. Yes I do like this CenterPoint Crossbow and I am very pleased with how well it does.

  23. First day hunting with this xbow purchased 30 days ago from BPS. Killed a doe with it. Recocked the bow and loaded bolt while tracking the deer the limbs broke in half on the right side! Unbelievable and glad I wasn’t hurt! Not to be rude but Crosman may need to stick with pellet rifles.

  24. I bought my sniper 370 for this year’s deer season.. I’m able to sight it in with field tips great, grouping and blowing the bullseye out. Soon as I put a broadhead on same weight as the field tips I cannot hit the target! I do not get it!

  25. Just bought my 370 sniper from Amazon and wondering if there is a site that I get wholesale prices on bolts and arrow heads

  26. One of my sons got it for me for my birthday this year. Been in archery for years, getting a little older and changed to a crossbow. first time shooting at 40 yards 4 arrows 6″ disk 2.5″ group. good bow. wouldn’t trade it for the world.

  27. The one I got worked great for about 50 shots. Then the cams warped. Yes, they actually stress bent. Luckily I knew something was wrong because the accuracy (which had been dead on) simply disappeared. So I did a full inspection and found the bent cams.Reading reviews in other places, I see that this, along with limb failure, are not uncommon problems. It souds like they made a really powerful crossbow using parts that were not up to the task. That is always a very dangerous thing with crossbows, and for me that eliminates all trust I have in Crosman products.
They were very good about refunding me my purchase price though, so there was that. Just glad I was not one of the people who have been injured by this product.
