Plano Soft-Sideed Case Review

ProsPlano Soft-Sideed Case

  • High-grade Cordura construction
  • Roomy enough for even recurve crossbows

Cons

  • No accessory pockets

Welcome to our review of the Plano Soft-Sided Crossbow Case (amazon.com link). This case is great for running to the range or to the field, since it incorporates high-density foam to protect the investment you have in your crossbow.

What’s the Case Made Of?

The Plano Soft-Sided Crossbow Case is made of 600D cordura material, which is very durable. The padding is high-density foam, and the zippers, handle, lining, and shoulder strap are all high quality materials.

What Size Crossbow Will the Plano Soft-Sided Crossbow Case Fit?

This crossbow case will fit just about any crossbow you want to put in it. I traditionally have a problem finding cases that fit my Excalibur Axiom SMF crossbow, but it fit just fine within this case. Compound or recurve crossbow are no problem in the Plano soft-sided case.

How Resistant is the Case to Tearing?

The 600D cordura fabric this case is constructed of is very durable and resistant to tearing. Additionally, the stitching to join the carrying straps to the case is high quality, and has lasted for several years of use and abuse. As far as durability goes, this case is probably the Range Rover of soft-sided crossbow cases.

How Weather-Resistant is the Case?

Cordura fabric is waterproof, but the seams are not. With that said, the case is very weather-resistant, and will keep water out unless the case is submerged or exposed to extreme driving rain (think hurricane-type rain). I’ve taken this case in the bed of my truck several times through downpours, and my crossbow was always dry as a bone afterwards.

Does the Plano Soft-Sided Crossbow Case Have Extra Pockets?

This is where this case shows it’s flaw, is in the lack of accessory pockets. While the case is plenty roomy to accommodate an accessory pocket or two, Plano has not incorporated them into the design.

Plano Soft-Sided Crossbow Case Summary

Thanks for reading our review of the Plano Soft-Sided Crossbow Case. This is an excellent case, roomy enough for the widest crossbows with large scopes. The material is durable and weather-resistant, but the case lacks accessory pockets. If you do not need accessory pockets, though, this is an excellent case for the money.
