PSE RDX Dream Season 365 Package Contents

The PSE RDX Dream Season 365 will come with just about everything you need to get shooting. About the only thing missing is a case, which should be pretty easy to find. In addition to the crossbow itself, you will get a 3×32 illuminated reticle scope, a 5-bolt quiver, three 20” Carbon Force™ Charger™ crossbow bolts and three 85-grain field points. You will also get a sling, rail lube and a cocking rope included as well. Just add some broad heads and a little practice, and it will be time to hit the field!

Kinetic Energy of the RDX Dream Season 365

The PSE RDX Dream Season 365 is an absolute beast in terms of power. Slinging a 400-grain bolt at speeds of 355 – 365 fps translates to some serious punch down range. You should expect to see around 118 ft. lbs. of muzzle energy and energy of 110+ ft. lbs. at 30 yards. Hunting for T-Rex? Well, you might just have found your crossbow. Good pass throughs on just about anything you are targeting should be no issue.

Design, Safety, Comfort and Accuracy

PSE Dream Season RDX 365The Dream Season 365 is a crossbow that gets its roots from a precision rifle platform. A creation from the cooperation of folks at PSE and also Drury Outdoors, it is evident that a lot of thought went into the design of this crossbow. The composite skeleton stock does an excellent job of reducing weight and the aluminum barrel fits it precisely to offer a well-balanced and sturdy shooting platform. There is a lot of rubber on the limbs and that, combined with the dual string stops, provides a high-level of vibration and sound dampening. Continuing with the concept of a precision rifle, the trigger on the RDX Dream Season 365 is very crisp with a release right at 3 lbs. of pull.

The anti-dry-fire system along with the auto safety provides an even greater level confidence when in the field. This is also the only crossbow we are aware of that incorporates the Mossy Oak Country pattern. One really cool feature of the RDX Dream Season 365 is the use of a reverse draw cam system. By employing this, the RDX Dream Season 365 enjoys a longer power stroke while keeping with a more compact frame. This crossbow is a little long, but not wide, so you can still use it in tighter quarters.

Ballistic Data For The PSE Dream Season RDX 365

Your actual results will vary slightly depending on weather, and significantly with arrow weight change. See our Crossbow Ballistics Guides section for a complete understanding of how we conducted our tests and why this data matters.

Hunting with the RDX Dream Season 365

The PSES RDX Dream Season 365 is an absolute beast to have with you in the field. With the right arrow selection, there should be almost nothing in North America that you can’t take down. You could even chase thick-skinned quarry with this bad boy. The narrow limb design, especially when cocked, means that you can use this even in an area where you have a fairly narrow shooting lane. All of the rubber on the business end also means you aren’t going to have as much ‘snap’ in terms of sound. The other nice feature is having an illuminated reticle translates to greater visibility in low light conditions.

How Quiet is the RDX Dream Season 365

The RDX Dream Season 365 is actually a fairly quiet crossbow thanks to all that rubber out front. We say ‘fairly quiet’ as any bow with this much power is never going to be completely silent, but then again, we haven’t seen a crossbow that is! PSE has certainly added features like the dual string stops and dampeners which do help, though.

Cocking the RDX Dream Season 365

The RDX Dream Season 365 is actually quite reasonable in terms of effort to cock when you consider the power it unleashes. Using the included rope cocker is a must given the longer power stroke. We have not seen a crank specifically for the RDX Dream Season 365, but that doesn’t mean PSE isn’t going to be offering one.

Quality of the Optics

The optics that come on the RDX Dream Season 365 are actually quite nice. We really like the illuminated reticle for those low-light conditions when the trophies like to step out. Given the power of this crossbow, you may want to upgrade to a higher power scope at some point to offer you better magnification for longer-range shots.

What Arrows to use with the RDX Dream Season 365

PSE Dream Season RDX 3652The arrows that PSE includes with the RDX Dream Season 365 are of good enough quality for practice as well as most hunting situations. We were a little disappointed that they include a 5-arrow quiver, but only send 3 with the package. These Carbon Force™ Charger™ bolts are not too expensive, so filling your quiver won’t break the bank. Given the high power of the RDX Dream Season 365, if you are going to pursue some of the thicker-skinned, heavy-boned prey out there, you may want to do a little homework to get arrows meant for that penetration.

Overall Thoughts

Our overall impression of PSE’s new offering are on the positive side. The sleek design of the RDX Dream Season 365 translates to a truly high-power crossbow that maintains a fairly narrow width. The feel when you shoulder it is one of good balance translating to a crossbow that is less tiring when you have to keep it shouldered waiting for the shot to present itself. We really like the added punch the reverse draw cam system creates, but it would have been nice to have had some length adjustability to match different shooters’ size. At an MSRP of $699, this certainly isn’t what we would call an ‘entry level’ crossbow, but given the power, it is one that is very worth taking a good long look at. trying to decide between Barnett Buck Commander BCX Ultra Lite and PSE RDX 365 Dream Season… if you could only choose between these two, and the price was the same, which would you buy?
