Welcome to our review of the Plano 1133-00 Manta Crossbow Case (amazon.com link). Plano is well-known for the quality of its hard-sided cases, so we were anxious to see how the Manta stood up to the type of bumping and jostling that crossbow cases have to contend with.
What Materials Is the Plano 1133 Made From?
The Plano Manta is a hard shell, polymer case with high density foam inserts. It is very durable, and is even scuff and scratch resistant. The case easily and completely protects your crossbow from physical damage and from the elements. The foam provides excellent cushioning, so your crossbow and scope stay safely packed away even if rough airline baggage treatment would otherwise destroy your investment.
My only complaint about the Plano Manta is that there is no shoulder strap; you have the carrying handle, and that’s it.
What Size Crossbow Will the Case Fit?
This crossbow case fits almost every crossbow in my arsenal. I’ve tried it out with the PSE Viper, PSE TAC Elite, Excalibur Exomax, and Barnett Quad 400, and every crossbow fits in the case with ease. The adjustable tall-stock makes it a snap to fit this case perfectly to your crossbow and scope.
How Resistant is the Crossbow Case to Tearing?
Since this is a hard shell case, tearing isn’t an issue. The polymer used in constructing the Plano Manta case heavily resists cracking from UV exposure, and the high-density foam provides excellent impact and shock resistance.
How Weather-Resistant is the Crossbow Case?
The case seals up nice and tight, keeping rain and snow out. It works very well at protecting your crossbow, so you can travel with it comfortably and without worry.
Does the Case Have Extra Pockets?
There aren’t any extra pockets in the crossbow case, but it does provide notches to hold your arrows, and two hook and loop fastener straps for securing accessories like your rope cocking device or gloves.
